ABOUT POEVOI
POEVOI is taken from two words ‘poem’ and ‘voice’.
The missing letters indicate the hearing loss of the
hearing impaired.
‘Poem’ representative the expression of this project.
Inspired by the poem '47 Things I Want to Remember
Before Blindness’ from Taiwan poet Xia Yu, I sorted
out the voices which people think are the most
important for themselves by interviews. By writing
them in verses, I managed to make an archive for the
hearing impaired. ‘Voice’ is on behalf of the
vibrations that people can feel from the physical
work. The sound which mentioned in the verse would
be transmitted into vibrations. People can feel each
of them by touching the ‘sound word’ on the wall.
This work aims to give deaf people a possibility to
collect sounds and to help them to collect their own
memories and stories about sounds.
